QA Issue: files installed but not shipped [installed-vs-shipped]
Fix the installed-vs-shipped QA error by adding the files to a package or not installing them.
ERROR: myapp-1.0-r0 do_package: QA Issue: myapp: Files/directories were installed but not shipped in any package: /usr/share/myapp [installed-vs-shipped]
What happens
do_install put files under ${D} that no package of the recipe contains. bitbake treats it as an error so
that files do not silently disappear from the image.
Why
do_install installs into a location not covered by the default FILES variables: a custom directory under
/usr/share, extra libraries, systemd units in a non-standard path, or files you did not mean to install.
How to fix it
- Ship them in the right package, in the recipe or a
.bbappend:FILES:${PN} += "${datadir}/myapp". - Or split them into their own package (
PACKAGES =+ "${PN}-data"andFILES:${PN}-data = ...). - Or remove what you do not want in
do_install:append().
Do not add installed-vs-shipped to INSANE_SKIP: the files would be lost from every package.
