Install the CLI
Yocman runs on the machine where you run bitbake: a Linux workstation, a build server or a CI runner. It needs
Python 3.12 or newer. Your build itself does not change: Yocman reads the build directory and, for fix,
applies patches to your own layers after you confirm them.
With pipx (recommended)
pipx install yocman
yocman --version
pipx installs the CLI in its own environment and puts yocman on your PATH.
From a source checkout
git clone <repository> yocman && cd yocman
pipx install ./cli
Check the installation
yocman context
Run it from a shell where you sourced oe-init-build-env (or inside a project created with yocman init):
it prints the release, machine, distro and layers it found, without any network call.
Next: log in.
